Once again CJG is observing National Crime Victims’ Rights Week by providing information about resources available for victims of crime. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the federal Victims of Crime Act. The Act provides funding to educate crime victims about how to get help. It also funds direct assistance and compensation for victims of certain kinds of crime. This year the National Center for Victims of Crime has joined forces with the U.S. Justice Department Office for Victims of Crime to produce the 2014 NCVRW Resource Guide. The Resource Guide, which is free to download here, has lessons for crime victim advocates so they can teach people in the community how to tell if unseen crimes may be occurring in their own communities. This year the Resource Guide is focused especially on recognizing the signs of elder abuse, labor trafficking, and crimes against children.
