Ann E. Groninger’s Involvement
Standing up for community and safer roads for all, Ann E. Groninger is a powerful voice for cyclists sticking up to create a stronger, more inclusive network to promote pursuing cycling as a healthier lifestyle.
Co-founder of Bike Law, a network of attorneys advocating for the rights and safety of cyclists. Bike Law sponsors People for Bikes, the League of American Bicyclists, and the Alliance for Bicycling and Walking, organizations working to create safer roads and stronger, more bicycle-friendly communities.
Charlotte Area Bicycle Alliance, working to create a bicycle-friendly community through cycling awareness, education, safety advocacy and promotion of bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation.
Regularly sponsors and participates in cycling events around the state; involved in community organizing and promoting bicycle safety; frequent speaker to clubs, groups, and at events on bicycle safety.
Valerie Johnson’s Involvement
Passionately supporting civil liberties and providing outreach to individuals at every level of community, Valerie Johnson’s dedication to education and equality for all stands apart.
ACLU of North Carolina, carrying out legal and educational work to preserve civil liberties. Valerie served on the board for three years and held the positions of secretary and treasurer.
Legal Aid of North Carolina: Valerie participates and provides free legal services as a lawyer for low income people with employment cases.
Union Baptist Church of Durham, member.
Rogers Herr Middle School, Volunteer and Mock Trial Coach.
The Angel Tree: among other projects, provides Christmas gifts to children of prisoners.
