Bike Month (#bikemonth) provides many opportunities all over the state for fun bike events – from family rides and kids bike rodeos to charity events and pro races. It’s also a great time to educate drivers about cyclists’ rights and to educate cyclists about safe practices on the road. Preventing crashes and accidents is an important part of promoting cycling.
More and more of us are choosing bicycling for transportation or recreation. According to the The League of American Bicyclists, the number of trips Americans made by bike doubled between 2001 and 2009. In Bike Friendly Communities like Philadelphia. PA and Washington D.C., the number of bike commuters increased 80 percent from 2000 to 2011, far greater than the 47 percent increase in bike commuting seen nationwide. (See more statistics about cycling here.)
CJG partner Ann Groninger is an avid cyclist. She’s also a mom and an attorney who seeks compensation for those people injured in bicycle crashes or by unsafe road conditions or defective bicycle products. As a member of Bike Law, Ann works to educate cyclists about their rights and responsibilities on the roads. We provide free legal advice to all cyclists and their families.
